November 7, 2006 was quite a day for The Big O in his hometown of Indianapolis. That afternoon, in a ceremony at the Crispus Attucks Museum on the site of his alma mater Crispus Attucks High School, announcement was made that a section of 11th Street would be renamed Oscar Robertson Boulevard. The Big O is the first living person to be so honored by the City of Indianapolis. (The actual unveiling of the new street signs took place in April 2007.)

That evening, at halftime of the Indiana Pacers - Philadelphia 76ers game at Conseco Fieldhouse, the Solution Center of Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), presented him with digitized copies of his scrapbooks from his playing days at Crispus Attucks High School, which will be displayed both at the Crispus Attucks Museum and in the Oscar Robertson Trophy cases in the lobby of Conseco Fieldhouse. The project was funded jointly by the Indiana Pacers and IUPUI's Solution Center, and produced by Steve Mannheimer at the IUPUI School of Informatics. More:

Oscar Robertson dedicated the scrapbooks to the memory of his late older brother Bailey Robertson, who preceded him at Crispus Attucks High School and who held the all-time scoring record at Indiana Central University (predecessor to IUPUI). Bailey Robertson, like Oscar, is a member of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

The Crispus Attucks Museum is at 1140 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, Indianapolis IN 46202, 317.226.2430, http://www.crispusattucksmuseum.ips.k12.in.us.
